Well what can i say! First of all another fine under 9's victory, but this could have easily been a lost game due to the passing being poor and there was hardly any communication between the team. But saying that many good points came out of the game, I thought Jenny was excellent in midfield , Liam, well that boy never stops running. A special mention to Jake Dean and Ben McCall who both starred in the second half. 2 goals from Ben White, 1 from Ben McCall and an own goal made the final score padstow 4 mount bodmin 2.

A few little points to learn from in training but otherwise a first class win, well done under 9's.

Once again the under 9's played some outstanding football and looked like the only team that would win this wintery match .
Another good team performance in what were very difficult conditions, the teams performance was noted by the Bodmin Manager who said "Apart from Liskeard, Padstow were the best team he had seen in this division".
The whole team played really well and were a credit to Padstow mini football centre. My player of the match was Liam Pender, if any parents would like to choose a spectators player of the match please let Steve know or the players can leave a note in the Guestbook who they thought should be spectators player of the match.

Once again very well done, you should all be proud of yourselves

A very happy coach doggio

Our fine run off form continues, with another solid team performance from you all.  If it wasn't for some terriffic goal keeping from the Tregorrick keeper, Padstow would have been in double figures at full time.  Everybody played very well so you all should be happy with your performances. Ben White scored 4 goals, great effort!! But my player of the match award goes to Liam Pender for his tireless running and battling for the ball.

Well done team!!!

Well what can i say, that was a fantastic team performance!
You're all looking like the finished article, for me (Joe Dog), Becky and the large number of spectators it was an immense pleasure to watch today.
The whole team had good control, great passing, and excellant finishing, indeed right from the kick off Padstow were in total control and never looked in danger of losing it. The only down side was Connor having to come off with a nasty blister on his heel, Callum though took his place and slotted in to the team well. Jenny, River and Liam linked well throughout the match and were supported by the ever present William.
A special mention and a very w
ell done to Ben White, 4 goals!!!!! (we wont mention the other two goals) and to the rest of the team "keep it going, everybody deserves to be captain in the next match". Final note to Morgan, what a keeper! and bring on the next team!!

It looks like the christmas break may have done the team good! From the start Padstow looked fully in control and were passing the ball around like seasoned professionals. The full backs and midfield linking extremly well with Jenny, River and Liam all working very hard and feeding Ben W with some excellant balls, this resulted in a very deserved halftime lead.
Padstow took to the field in the second half in total control and what I believe to be their best peformance of the season.
Well done to Ben W on his hat-trick and the whole team on their excellant performance you made me (Joe Dog) and Becky very very proud.
Keep it up team!!

20th January 2008

After a very long xmas break with no games and very little training due to the weather all the signs showed that the team had not played a competetive match for some time. With the team aware that they were playing against probably the strongest team in the league did'nt help either.
The team played some good spells of football but showed that they need to train as a team on a regular basis. Basic mistakes led to several of the goals but in general the team done a lot better than the 17-0 defeat on the first day of the season.
We need to close down are opponents a lot faster and look for the simple pass's. All this can be ironed out in team training sessions with a little bit of hard work.  The midfield chased everything during the game with Liam in particular showing great energy levels throughout the match, well done everybody and keep those chins up!  A special note to River for going in goal in the second half.

League Liskeard 7 Padstow 0

Atlantic Porth Galaxy 1 Padstow 1

18th November 2007

On a wet Sunday morning the under 9s met Atlantic Porth Galaxy. Both teams started off well and a good midfield battle insued but then halfway through the first half Padstows determination started to pay off and they took control.

River, Jenny and Ben W all linking well with Connor, William and Morgan who in turn were cleaning up Porths attacks very well. Padstow had the best chances in the first half but just could not find the back off the net. Half time came with the scores at 0-0 and the game continued with Padstow having the better chances once again. Callum came on for Morgan and defended well keeping his position then against the run of play the home team took the lead. All credit to Padstow they kept going with William having an outstanding match.

Morgan came back on in a midfield role and had one off his best games to date and with that Padstows pressure finally paid off. River, capping a good return from America,  with a well deserved reply. This was no more than the team deserved all credit to them for sticking to their task and all I can say is "Welldone boys and girls, that was a great performance".

The manager from Atlantic Porth came over at the end of the match and said William B was the best footballer he had seen in this league, well done William and well done team.

Padstow 1 Tregorrick Titans 2

10th November 2007

After our first league win the week before, this was always going to be an interesting game. Joe Dogs spirited team talk got the team of to a good start but maybe with a little bit of luck the Titans went one nil up.

It was obvious this Tregorrick team were a much tighter controlled team but Padstows defence were answering all the right questions with William reading their attackers well and clearing that ball well into the Titans half. But after a lot of goal mouth scrambles we finally got the ball into the back of the Titans net.

The game was that close between the two teams that it was only going to be the next team that scored were going to be the winners. The Titans got their 2nd which spurred our attackers on with Liam having many of his shots saved, again a few more goal mouth scrambles but just to no avail.

The under 9's played very well and a draw would have been a fairer result, but hey, thats football!

Half time talk, Titans Game

Tregorrick Park Tigers 2 Padstow 10

4th November 2007

What can I say! Listening to the team talking amongst themselves before the game they were very apprehensive but after a good team talk from Joe Dog the team took to the field looking confident and they did not let him down. Within a few minutes we were 2 nil up, BUT then the dreaded curse Tregorrick came back winning some good tackles and before you knew it they were level pegging. But Padstow must have learnt from their past few games where after a period of 10mins with no goals they started their onslaught.

William rattled some excellant shots of the cross bar and got himself a beautiful chip from almost the length of the pitch, Liam, Connor, Jenni, Ben Mc, Ben W all getting on the score sheet. The defence did exceptionally well stopping the home side in their tracks and clearing that ball well leaving Finn with not much to do in goal but when he was called upon he was there.

A special mention should go to the referee, it was refreshing to see a young referee who was fair and consistent, especially after the last league game!

Well done Padstow, now lets see you do the same on Saturday, you know you can!

Charlestown 4 Padstow 3

20th October 2007

The match started well, with the midfield and striker's linking well as a team. The boys were in total control throughout the first half and goals from River (2) and Liam (1) gave Padstow a well deserved 3-0 half time lead. But then the second half curse struck yet again! Within 2 minutes off the restart it was 3-2. The home team got on to level terms and then went on to win 4-3. But it has to be said Padstow were the victims of some very suspicious refereeing decisions. A disallowed Padstow goal for no reason and a very early final whistle after the winning goal was scored by the home team. The boys can take positives from the first half but again were terrible at defending for all 4 goals. Managers player of the match was River, well done River you put in a great performance.

14th October 2007

On a misty wet soggy Sunday morning, hopes were running high that the under 9's were going to shine after the result away to Mount Bodmin.  The team started well with the defence cleaning up the loose balls and playing well as a unit with Connor staking an early claim for man of the match until William B stepped up to rifle a good low cross into the box from a corner getting a deflection of the unfortunate Camelford defender. He soon followed this up with an excellent 25 yard bullet freekick to send Padstow into a deserved 2-0 half time lead. Unfortunately after the break Padstow committed football suicide by letting Camelford score 4 unopposed second half goals. The defence and midfield looked like they had never played together and heads soon dropped. River, Liam and Ben W were running everywhere to win those balls up front but to no avail. It was obvious that lessons need to be learnt and with a little self belief, I am sure, the under 9's will soon be getting the results they so richly deserve.

Under 9s what are you doing to us spectators you loose 15 nil the week before, then this week you come out like a completely diffrent team. You passed well, you tackled well and played as a team! William where did you learn to kick like that? You played well again and deserved the managers player of the match. Morgan, Callum and Conner did well at the back and won a lot of those important tackles. Jenni your still showing skills that most older players would be jealous off, playing some really nice football. Liam, River and Ben W you were playing excellant, passing the ball well to each other, looking to help others when in trouble and getting those all important balls through when required. Finn, spot on mate you put last week behind you and showed us what a good goalie you are. A deserved win which Joe Dog and Becky will be proud of, now lets go and show that same spirit this Sunday against Camelford.

30th September 2007

Hopes were running high for this, the under 9's first league game and having the home advantage we were hoping for a good game. It was apparent from the start of the game that Liskeard were a well formed team and deserved the win but maybe not as much as the score suggests. Padstow put up a spirited fight but were just unlucky with those final touches and remembering the positions that they are playing in. A special mention to William B who did everything that was asked of him and put in a first class performance. Learn from this game unders 9's and show the next team what your all about.
